Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about the Solvilia Preciso Strap.

How is this different from a knee sleeve or brace?

A sleeve or brace covers your knee from thigh to shin.

The Preciso Strap covers one spot. It's a shaped pad that sits just under the kneecap, held by one adjustable Velcro strap. The rest of the knee stays uncovered and free to bend.

I've tried braces before. Why would this be different?

Fair question. Most braces and sleeves squeeze the whole knee. This one does something else: it puts a shaped pad on the band just below the kneecap, and nowhere else.

You don't have to take our word for it. Wear it on your own stairs and walks for up to 90 days, and decide for yourself.

If your knee has an injury or ongoing pain, check with your doctor or physio first. They can tell you if a patella strap suits you.

It looks small. Does it actually do anything?

It's small on purpose. It doesn't try to cover the whole knee.

It puts the pad on one spot: the band just below the kneecap, the part that works hardest on the stairs and when you get up from a chair.

You choose how firm it feels by how tight you close the Velcro.

How long does it take to put on?

About 10 seconds. Place the pad under the kneecap. Wrap the strap around your leg. Press the Velcro closed.

No tape, no scissors, and nobody needed to help.

How do I know I'm wearing it correctly?

Step 1: Sit down and find the bottom edge of your kneecap with your fingers.

Step 2: Place the pad just below it, centred on the front of your knee.

Step 3: Wrap the strap and close the Velcro so it feels snug, not tight. You should be able to bend your knee comfortably.

Not sure? Send a photo to support@solvilia.com and we'll tell you if it sits in the right spot.

Will it fit my knee?

The strap wraps around your leg just below the knee and closes with Velcro, so you set how snug it is.

Not sure about the size? Measure around your leg just below the kneecap and email us the number at support@solvilia.com. We'll tell you before you order.

Can I wear it under trousers or jeans?

Yes. It's slim enough to wear under shorts and most trousers. With very tight jeans, you may see its outline.

Will it slide down when I walk?

When it's snug and sitting just under the kneecap, it should stay put on a normal walk.

Leg shape and long, busy days can make any strap move a little. If it does, open the Velcro and wrap it again. It takes a few seconds.

Can I wear it all day?

You can wear it for your walk, your errands and your day out. Loosen it when you sit for a while, and tighten it again before the stairs.

Comfort comes first. Take it off if you notice tingling, numbness, skin irritation or more pain, and don't close it tighter than snug.

Can I wear one on each knee?

Yes. That's why the Pair comes with two straps: one for each knee, or one to keep in your bag or the car.

Is it the same as taping my knee?

No, and we won't pretend it is. Tape and a strap are different things.

What's different is the hassle. No rolls of tape, no scissors, no one to help you put it on, and you wear the same strap again tomorrow.

If a physio tapes your knee, ask them whether a patella strap suits you for everyday wear.

Can I kneel with it on?

We don't recommend it. The pad sits just under the kneecap, right where you'd kneel.

Take it off before you kneel, then put it back on in about 10 seconds.

What if it's not for me?

Then you get your money back. Wear it on your own stairs, walks and errands for up to 90 days.

If it's not for you, email support@solvilia.com within 90 days of delivery and we'll refund you in full.

Why the stairs feel different from the flat

Walking on the flat is one thing. The stairs, the kerb and getting up from the couch are another.

Those are the moments your knee bends while it carries your whole weight.

When the knee bends under load, the band just below the kneecap works much harder than on flat ground.

That’s why so many people start working around it: one step at a time, the good leg first, the escalator instead of the stairs.

And that’s exactly where the Preciso Strap sits: a shaped pad on that band, held by one strap you put on yourself.

Out the door on your own.

Strap on in about 10 seconds, then go: the front steps, the bus, the shops, lunch with a friend.

Loosen it at the café. Tighten it again for the stairs home. When you're back, it comes off at the door, ready for tomorrow.
